Creating a field of light, the 84.11 Multi-Light Pendant by Bocci is made up of individual spherical elements by sculptor and designer Omer Arbel. With the belief that we need visual and tactile cues to form an understanding of spaces we cannot occupy, this fixture fills its environment with individually crafted, illuminated globes. Each layered form is composed of a fine copper mesh basket, filled with white glass, plunged into hot transparent glass, and shaped with blown air, creating a pillowed, soft texture that escapes through the mesh. The outer layer of this sphere has natural variations and the inner metal crinkles and folds during the fabrication process for a group of unique objects that cast a warm coppery light.
